As you may (or may not) know, we always try to explore new technology in the non-invasive/minimally invasive category in order for us to bring to you the latest in die aesthetic industry. With that being said, not all procedures are all-year-round treatments. Here are our Top 5 Treatments to do during Summer.
Microneedling
Do you want to go into summer with healthy skin or continue with collagen production?
Microneedling is the perfect procedure to keep our skin “fit” by increasing our cellular turnover time. This means that it assists our skin with shaking-off the dead skin cells quicker and therefor we have a healthier glow.
Microneedling doesn’t remove or compromise the epidermis to a degree that it can not serve its funtion as a protective layer against harmful UV rays. Therefore, SkinPen may be used in the summer, when people typically spend more time exposed to the sun, as well as the rest of the year. Procedures & treatments such as chemical peels and laser resurfacing treatments, remove or selectively damages the epidermis and should be avoided when the sun is out.
Microdermabrasion
A treatment that can instantly give you better skin sounds too good to be true, but it isn’t, with microdermabrasion. This unique procedure scrapes away old skin cells using a special, diamond-tipped device , that uses a suction mechanism to prevent operater aggresion from damageing the skin, helping your skin look fresh and dewy. An added bonus is that the treatment is comfortable, with most patients reporting that it feels like a cat licking your skin! It’s great for mild sun damage, acne, pigmentation, scarring, dull skin tone, and poor texture.
Dermaplanning
Dermaplanning can be defined as a procedure that deeply exfoliates your skin whilst sumultaniously removing the vellus hair which we all know as “peach fuzz”. The procedure is performed by an aesthetician using a scalped or medically graded blade called a dermatome. Dermaplanning is amazing for keeping your skin bright, smooth and looking healthy, plus the application of make-up appears smoother. Clients have also reported that their make-up “sticks” to the skin better, therefor lasting longer. This is definitely a treatment worth considering in the warmer months for an overall healthier look to the skin!
Laser Hair Removal
A body-hair-free summer sounds just about right. Apart from the comfortability of not having to shave every day, if ingrown hairs can be avoided as well – why not? Effective laser hair removal can prevent this by destroying the hair follicle of the ingrown hair, causing it to fall out and leaving you smooth and confident in your bikini or shorts during these summer days.
BONUS: Contrary to popular belief, darker skin types can also be treated for laser hair removal. In the past laser treatments only used one laser wavelength, which targeted pigmentation in the hair, but it was ineffective when there was little colour contrast between the skin and hair. But with ClarityII, anyone whose hair colour is darker than their skin tone can get a safe and effective laser hair removal.
Facials
Most of the time chemical peels are not recommended during the months of maximum sun exposure. However, you do not have to cancel you monthly trip to your skincare clinic. Ask your skincare professional for a facial-alternative to continue nourishing your skin.
With only 14% glycolic acid, being unbufferd and undiluted, iS Clinical’s Foaming Enzyme Facial is ideal to nourish the skin during the warmer months of the year. Foaming Enzyme features active foaming agents for light and effective exfoliation for all skin types, leaving the skin clear and glowing for days. The luxurious foam soothes as it renews and can even be used for sunburnt skin.
